Mini Home Expo Features Financial, Environmental Homeownership Sustainability

RUTLAND, Vt.  NeighborWorks of Western Vermont’s first annual Mini Home Expo is Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014 from 10 am to 2 pm at Green Mountain Power’s Energy Innovation Center, 68 Merchants Row, Rutland. The event is free, open to the public, and walking distance from the Farmers’ Market.

The Mini Home Expo is a one-stop-shop for people interested in sustainable homeownership—financial sustainability as well as environmental sustainability.

Visitors to the Mini Home Expo will have exclusive access to hands-on displays, local experts, and free giveaways. The Expo is intended for potential homebuyers and current homeowners. Homebuyer education, green lending, realty, energy efficiency, solar, cold climate heat pumps, and home electric vehicle changing stations are a few of the booths featured.

The Vermont Energy Education Program (VEEP) will have several interactive exhibits that, while geared to children, appeal to all ages. Mini hydro, wind, and solar electricity generation models will be set up along with a bike that generates electricity to power three different types of light bulbs.

Exhibitors include NeighborWorks of Western Vermont and NeighborWorks H.E.A.T. Squad, Green Mountain Power, Heritage Family Credit Union, and VEEP.
